Making Children feel ‘At home’

The images shown here from past Pleasant Street Parent-Child classes capture the archetype of ‘home’—that is, warmth, comfort and a certain timelessness. We all long for ‘home,’ and children respond immediately and instinctively to a space that has been set up for them with these qualities in mind. From that base of comfort, imagination soars with play possibilities! A Waldorf-inspired play space always contains simple, open-ended toys that are 100 percent child-powered. Even a small area behind the couch or in a corner of a room, set up with a few beautiful, natural sturdy toys, loving care, and a touch of magic, will invite children’s creative play. These special places soothe children’s senses and help them feel ‘at home’ before venturing outdoors again—the greatest play space of all!
